Happy Valentine’s Day!

Some like it, some hate it. Either way, the theme is L-O-V-E. We’re all about self love today, and embracing every perfect imperfection that makes you, YOU! Here are our favourite ways to indulge in self love with skincare: 

1. Have a bath

Fill the bath up. Soak your feet and let the warmth of the bubbles, bath salts and oils aborb throughout your entire skin. Let the music play as you drift away.

Maybe light candles? Grab your favourite book? Pop on a recommended podcast? Enjoy pure indulgence. 

2. DIY face mask for Glowing Skin 

Winter time means dry, cracking skin. Here's a recipe to restore and repair with full hydration:

  • 1/4 Avocado (avocado toast style - mash it up!)
  • 2 Tb Olive Oil / Jojoba Oil
  • 2 Tb Almond Slices

Mix all ingredients together until it becomes smooth. Use the mashing process as a stress relief because the smoother it is, the nicer it will feel when applying. 

Keep it on for around 15 minutes. Use a cloth and warm water to remove. 

3. Try a jade roller

Jade rolling has long been thought to reduce skin inflammation and puffiness. A cold roller can stimulate the lymphatic system and blood circulation, which helps to brighten complexion. Check out some tips on how to use and practice - we love the quick videos @face.goddess.yoga provide!

4. Massage gratitude into your face

Indulging in a soothing facial massage is easy. Using a smooth serum like our Daily Protect Serum, rub small circles around your face. Concentrate on any areas that may feel tense, like the forehead, jawline, and around the eyes. With each breath, exhale any tensions you hold onto. Use this time to inhale in appreciation and gratitude.

5. Schedule in a Virtual Spa Day 

Time to treat yourself  to some rest and relaxation! Book in a time to create an at-home spa. Soak in the bath with bath bombs or bath salts. Take a hot shower. Indulge in some ultra-hydrating moisturiser with a full body massage. Clear out your pores with some steam (boil hot water, place in bowl, be extra careful, an open up the pores!). Put on a face mask. And of course, don’t forget the option for an ice bucket or ice cold shower. It’s thought to have various mental health benefits, including mood-boosting abilities, so don’t leave without braving the freezing cold splash. 

6. Practice Face Yoga!

We put our eye area through a lot of daily stress, from applying makeup to dragging products over skin. Show your eyes some TLC today. Use your ring finger to apply products (try our Night Repair Oil)  in a dabbing motion and refrain from stretching the delicate skin. Check out our IG video for a 45 minute tutorial!  Also, apply a few cucumber slices while you relax in the bath or just before bed to cool and soothe tired eyes - pampered peepers, indeed! 

7. Make a skincare smoothie

Treat your body well on the inside and your skin will glow. Blend up a smoothie containing nutritious ingredients for brighter, clearer skin. Here's what you need:

  • 1/2 a cucumber
  • A handful of Kale
  • 1/2 a pear or Apple
  • 3-4 celery stalks 
  • A squeeze of lime juice
  • A handful of ineapple slices 
  • Ice cubes

Enjoy the delicious benefits! 

8. Seek fresh air 

Take advantage of days getting longer. When the sky is blue, use it as a reminder to get outside for some fresh air. Detox your lungs and detox that body. Trees and plants naturally cleanse the air, and by avoiding pollution and indulging in fresh air, your skin could benefit as well as your mental health. Taking a break away from the city smogand getting outdoors, helps you get back to you. Your body, mind and skin will say thank you!

9. Focus on forgotten areas: FEET!

As a reminder of the body parts that help us to stay grounded, take some time to say thank you. Treat your feet to a soak and a scrub! Valentine’s Day is a great excuse to focus on those areas of the body that tend to be missed. Wrap your feet up in some thick, hydrating lotion before bed. Put some socks on to maximise asorbtion.  

10. Declutter skincare for a clear mind 

Too much clutter can be bad for the mind, so today, go Marie Kondo on your skincare collection. If you have gathered a number of products over time, go through each one and keep only what you need. Check the expiration date, too.

Instead of just throwing good products away, turn your early spring clean into an eco-friendly skincare-swap with friends. Then, treat yourself for V-Day to the products you actually want and need to help benefit your skincare goals.
