2020 is in full swing, and you are probably working on a few wellness goals for this year. Recently there has been an increase in conscious consumption and mindfulness; it’s all about what goes in and on one’s body.People are seeking out natural options to feel healthier and happier, and CBD skincare checks the box for a one-stop shop.

Here are 3 ways to make CBD skincare part of your 2020 goals:

1. Find Your ‘Why’

Always begin by asking yourself ‘why?’ This isSimon Sinek’s philosophy (author ofStart With Why). He says, ‘there are only two ways to influence human behaviour: you can manipulate it or you can inspire it.’

Inspire yourself. Feed your curiosity. Think aboutwhyyou are choosing to make a change. When it comes to adding CBD skincare to your daily routine, ask yourself, ‘why is this important to me?’:

  • To reduce the signs of ageing?
  • To alleviate inflammation or redness?
  • To soothe troublesome acne?
  • See here for more benefits of CBD skincare

There are no wrong answers. Establish your why and from there you can easily figure outhow to achieve it.

Ohana tip to find your why:

Keep a skin diary for a few weeks. Note down the characteristics of your complexion. Recognise how you feel; everything from confidence to energy levels. Over time, begin to notice patterns and problem areas, and take note of why CBD skincare could benefit your skin’s health.

2. Choose plant-based, sustainable products

Using CBD in skincare products means choosing plant-based ingredients. Even beyond Veganuary, adding plant-based skincare products is the key to clearer, cleaner skin (read more here).

From avocado oil to rosehip, Ohana’s range boasts a juicy bunch of natural plant, fruit and seed extracts. All are specifically chosen to help combat certain skin woes, and leave you with glowing, gorgeous skin.

Many brands claim to be natural, but they aren’t always. Be aware of greenwashing and the signs to watch out for. We have a greatarticle on this here

It's important to note what to look for and what to avoid in skincare products. Here are a few reasons:

  • To introduce more antioxidants and nutrients into the skin for a glowing complexion
  • To replace synthetic ingredients/toxic chemicals that irritate and cause inflammation
  • To avoid synthetic ingredients that contribute to a higher ‘Body Burden’; the name given to the level of chemicals found in the body. Studies have shown that synthetic ingredients absorbed through the skin can affect this level, and these chemicals can even be passed on through generations
  • To ensure that what you are washing off your skin each day doesn’t harm the environment. Less toxic chemicals are returned to the earth and oceans to negatively impact animals, marine life and ecosystems

3. Use CBD skincare as self care

Another way to incorporate CBD skincare into your daily routine is to ‘habit stack’ by adding it to your current self care ritual. We believe in theimportance of making time for self care, no matter how jam-packed your day may be.

It can be easy to speed ahead with all of the tasks on your list, but pledge to take at least a few minutes in the AM and PM to pause and refuel your soul.

Start your mornings and end your days the same way - grateful, present and relaxed. Having this kind of daily intentionality is key to achieving anything you want in 2020.

Treat your skincare practice as a meditative process, and let that gratitude and presence spill over into your daily living. It can give you the positive mindset and mental clarity you need to go on and achieve even more of your 2020 goals… you got this!

Ohana tip for using CBD skincare as self care:

Create an area in your home that you are excited to get to. Whether it’s massaging ourPhyto Retinol Night Oil into your skin by your beside, or rubbing ourSoothing Balm into problem areas after a warm bath, find your happy place and turn it into a daily event, just for you.
